Miestas, kuriame gyvena romantikai

Vaizdas

It goes differently and it's fun

After living here several months we discovered some interesting facts about Queens Land. It happens, that you need only to observe... and some funny thing will appear. a) traffic comes on the opposite side of the road... don't practice this at home, you can get hurt b) there are two different taps for cold water and hot water. You can't have warmish water from the same tap. c) traffic lights are worthless d) light bulbs doesn't have threads on it.... e) there are always more meat that salads when you order a salads with some meat f) largest rodents - squirells. People say you need to be afraid of them, because they can bite you. On the other hand they are truly gorgeous creatures. You just want to catch them and squish. g) fries.. it comes with every meal. But it's not tasteless, it's good, but unhealthy. h) children. They are polite and submissive. How on earth? j) there are cafes at the churches. You can pray and then go to eat your meal. It's nice, because yo

Jos meškino vardas yra Hašišas

"Grow up or grow mad" - iš vienos knygos, analizuojančios ,,Mažąjį Princą".

Gal pavyks nufotografuot. Vakar išvardinom kelis faktus, liudijančius, kad ši šalis yra keista: a) eismas vyksta ne ta kelio puse b) šilto ir šalto vandens kranai atskiri, todėl neįmanoma sureguliuoti drungno vandens iš čiaupo c) šviesoforai yra beverčiai d) elektros lemputės neturi sriegių e) apie rozetes nekalbu... f) salotose daugiau mėsos nei salotų g) didžiausi graužikai - voverės h) bulves jie patiekia visur, kur gali i) vaikai yra mandagūs ir paklusnūs j) bažnyčiose būna kavinių ;) Ir sąrašas dar pildomas...

Let me introduce you to my Vilnius

Vaizdas
When first snow fell in Lithuania several weeks ago I thought that I'll burst with envy. When it's snowing there you feel like being in a glass bubble with all those decorations from fairy-tales. And there is always exclusive Christmas period with bells, bizzar triffles and simple songs. Wonderful? Yes, it is. Vilnius drowned in white and light snow looks like a set for a romantic movie. While there is still autumn at Queens Land, let me introduce you to Vilnius, capital of Lithuania.  As you probably heard there are many (and too many) books for travelers about this manifold and gorgeous city. For example, "Lost Vilnius", "Found Vilnius", "Best places in Vilnius", "Tourist guide to Vilnius", "Churches of Vilnius" and many other. But I always knew this city in my personal acquaintance. I'll try not to be too boring. Vilnius is not a big (even it's biggest one in Lithuania)  city, if we are talking about size, but large o

Can I take Vilnius with myself? Yes, you can!

It was late September when he came to our office and asked: So now you will live at Queen's Land? Yes, indeed. But can I take Vilnius with myself? - that was my reaction. I always believed that there is only one home on Earth for me. It's my country Lithuania and its' capital Vilnius. While living next to London, I still believe in it. Being an emigre means always taking your home with you.  So I packed my things and one rough Thursday morning landed in Luton airport. It was the first flight in my life and I was confused as a squirrel with too much nuts in her tiny mouth. Let's take a party - I said! No, I just went to sleep and after good nap, got lost in a small city St Albans, where I had the fortune to stay. There was one of the most interesting sightseeing tours in my life when I just tried to find my boyfriends office (all this trip was his adventure at first) and not to show how lost I am. And tried to smile. Never forget to smile in UK - my best friend said a
